On this page, we introduce our standard leathers used at DELIFE and our commitment to leather selection.
DELIFE Standard Leathers
・Japanese vegetable-tanned cowhide
Italian vegetable-tanned cowhide from 'Tempesti'
・Italian 'Lo Stivale' vegetable-tanned cowhide
What is 'Tempesti'?

Founded in 1946, the prestigious Italian tannery 'Tempesti' located in the Santa Croce district produces leather whose surface is waxed to create a whitish finish.

The waxed surface appears white and misty at first, but with use, it softens and reveals the leather’s natural color and character.

The waxing makes the leather resistant to dirt and allows the aging process to progress slowly.

Used for wallets, bags, and more.

What is 'Lo Stivale'?

Founded in 1958, the renowned Italian tannery 'Lo Stivale' in the Santa Croce district produces leather characterized by elegant and deep colors. It offers a relaxed aging experience.

Used for belts, handles, and more.

What is Japanese vegetable-tanned cowhide?

We use domestically produced vegetable-tanned cowhide from Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan’s largest leather-producing region.

Among these, the soft and supple leather is rare due to the labor-intensive process. The surface is treated with a dirt-resistant finish, allowing you to use it without excessive worry.

Used for drawstring bags, multistrap & pouch, and more.

DELIFE’s “Quality” Defined
DELIFE’s material selection is very simple: whether it is “high quality and environmentally conscious.” “High quality” means vegetable-tanned leather that ages beautifully over time.
This material is said to make up about 10% of the world’s leather production and is tanned using plant saps, making it environmentally friendly and commonly called eco-leather. On the other hand, 90% of chrome leather is produced using chemicals, causing marine pollution through wastewater, which is a social issue. Therefore, to realize a sustainable society, we actively use eco-leather that is environmentally friendly and ages wonderfully.
Eco-leather is leather carefully tanned with plant tannins over time, minimizing processing that hides scratches and wrinkles to preserve the leather’s natural texture.High-quality leather is not necessarily uniform and flawless. Therefore, areas with wrinkles are also used, giving each product its own unique character and increasing its charm.Over time, it undergoes aging changes, gaining color and luster, adapting to your skin, and transforming into a texture unique to you, showing a rich expression.
